Phew. It’s finally over! In early September, New York kicked it off. London took over next, followed by the very glamorous Milan. Finally, on October 7th Paris concluded the wild procession of the big Fashion Weeks – the « big » ones because you only have to look at a few calendars to know that there is a Fashion Week all the time and nearly everywhere on the planet.
So, what can this frenzied month and a half teach us about fashion? What will we want to wear when it’s finally nice out again?
Apparently, according to Vogue France, we will replay the ethereal heroine look in evanescent bohemian dresses. Just like we did this summer. In any case, in Milan, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, and Alberta Feretti were definitely counting on it. We will also be ethereal in our delicate lingerie-style white dresses. In particular, we saw them at Calvin Klein in New York and at Valentino, Christian Dior, and Saint Laurent in Paris.
Bomber jackets all round! That’s what the designers in Milan are hoping anyway. Next spring we will go for the military-glam look, encouraged by Versace, Marco de Vincenzo, Etro, or Roberto Cavalli.
The return of the color block. Yes, you read that right! It was particularly on show in Milan with pinks, yellows, greens, cheerful patterns, and lots of energy. To be chic in 2016 is to affirm your optimism.
As for the refined spirit of the ’70s, it will remain imbedded in our hearts and in our closets.
Like every season, the catwalks thrilled us. Now it’s our turn to create our style. Unique.
